Founded on the Catholic intellectual tradition, St. Mary's will prepare its students to live with integrity, compassion and confidence. Through the pursuit of knowledge and service to the community, we prepare our students to become lifelong learners, engaged citizens and compassionate members of society.

A centre of knowledge with a library that holds extensive collections in many key areas and a Centre for Learning, Access and Student Success dedicated to helping students become successful learners. An engaging gathering place where all are invited to join in campus events such as Speakers Series, Eucharistic celebrations, social justice campaigns, pep rallies, drama and choral performances and a variety of academic symposiums.

Off Campus Housing

St. Mary's University is currently a commuter campus. Ask to see the student housing binder at the Enrolment Services office for various rental options for St. Mary's students.

Incoming Students

St. Mary's currently offers university transfer courses leading to degrees offered by other colleges and universities. Under the procedures of the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT), St. Mary's has negotiated transfer agreements with Alberta post-secondary institutions. These course transfer agreements are published in ACAT's Alberta Transfer Guide. As well, other agreements are accessible on the Internet through the Online Alberta Transfer Guide. St. Mary's asserts that each of its members bears some responsibility to the others and that all are concerned about intellectual, personal, social, and spiritual development and about preparation of leaders for society. The intimate size of St. Mary's fosters a sense of family and community in which relationships quickly develop and students soon feel at home.

Career Planning

St. Mary's University offers career services through our Career and Financial Aid Officer. Students can receive personalized assistance with resume and cover letter review, interview coaching, job search assistance, career conversations, and more.

Sports

St. Mary's University promotes healthy lifestyle choices for our students and encourages them to engage in a wide range of physical and wellness activities. Our athletics program is part of our Sport & Wellness Department.

Clubs

St. Mary's University's Student Legislative Council (SLC) has a series of clubs for students to join and encourages students to make their own clubs each year. The SLC sees clubs as an important aspect of campus life at St. Mary's and as a way to make new friends who share similar interests. St. Mary's asserts that each of its members bears some responsibility to the others and that all are concerned about intellectual, personal, social, and spiritual development and about preparation of leaders for society. The intimate size of St. Mary's fosters a sense of family and community in which relationships quickly develop and students soon feel at home. St. Mary's endeavours to provide students with an open and supportive atmosphere in the spirit of a Christian community. Students are encouraged to participate in special events at St. Mary's such as visiting lecturer presentations, assemblies, social and recreational programs, drama and debating teams, and other activities designed to develop personal skills and talents. Students are strongly encouraged to volunteer in a program arranged by St. Mary's for assistance to the disadvantaged.

Special Services

Students seeking accommodations must self-identify to the Accommodations Coordinator, who keeps detailed documentation of each student's disability on file. Students may inform their instructors of their accommodations if they choose to, however they are not required to disclose this information, nor the nature of their disability.

International Involvement

St. Mary's offers a variety of study abroad and travel study courses, such as marine biology in Vancouver Island, art history in Italy, and tropical ecology in Belize. Students interested in international opportunities should contact the Director of Student Affairs at pablo.ortiz@stmu.ca.
